What are Renewables?
Renewables are sources of energy that are environmentally friendly and cannot be depleted, these types of energy are sustainable and clean, therefore reducing your carbon footprint.
Examples of renewable energy that we can integrate into our lives, include Wind Turbines, Solar Panels, Ground Source Heat Pumps (GSHP) and Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP).
For the last 10 years or so, many home and business owners have benefitted from the clean electricity generated by Solar Panels, and now it is just as easy to switch from heating a home or business with fossil fuels, to an ASHP or GSHP, that will slash your carbon footprint overnight. In the UK, around 20% of the country’s carbon emissions come from heating alone!
What are the benefits of Renewables?
There are so many benefits to renewable energy sources, the most crucial one being the reduced environmental impact, renewable energy sources are clean and sustainable, so they are a great long term investment for the planet.
When you invest in Renewable Technology such as an air source heat pump, it is important to choose a Manufacturer that is recognised for good build quality, reliability, and support. All our Manufacturers have an excellent reputation and many years of experience, with average warranties of between 5 and 7 years. As Panasonic Pro Partners your heat pump and any associated Panasonic components, are warrantied for 7 years, provided you carry out regular maintenance and servicing to keep them up to the required standards, which we can help you with.
Using renewable energy sources have the potential to save you money on your utility bills, as well as cutting your carbon footprint. To learn more about any potential savings, please speak with a member of the team, who can analyse your current fuel bill, against project costs of switching to a heat pump. Currently the biggest fuel savings are for those customers whose homes and business are heated with storage heaters, electric boilers, and LPG heating. Whilst customers on mains gas and oil central heating can switch to a heat pump, to reduce their carbon footprint and benefit from Government incentives, the fuel savings is currently less attractive, but we understand that better electricity tariffs are coming, that will help make this switch attractive for all.
The Government offer money back schemes for installations of renewable energy sources, more information can be found on the latest scheme here.
Our Renewable journey
CG Plumbing & Heating Contractors Ltd, have always had a strong passion for environmental sustainability. We regularly recycle at our office and customer’s sites, try to reduce, and discourage the use of non-recyclable materials, whilst encouraging our workforce to lift share, wherever possible.
In March 2020 we began our journey to become MCS accredited, following our acceptance on the RECC Consumer Code, as we wanted to help others, to achieve sustainable energy systems, to help the environment.
We became certified by NICEIC in December 2020 and are now registered MCS installers, Certification Number: NIC-600031, you can find us on the official MCS website.
Our engineers have already completed specialist training on Panasonic, Mitsubishi, Daikin and Grant heat pumps, and we have specialist subcontractors on hand to assist with more complex designs, troubleshooting and maintenance.
Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP)
Air Source Heat Pumps are a renewable and sustainable source of energy and a great solution for domestic homes.
Along with heating your home, ASHPs provide you with hot water and have cooling functions too.
ASHPs work by extracting heat from the outside air, then using a compression cycle to increase the temperature and distribute this throughout your heating and hot water system. This technology is similar to how your refrigerator cools, but in reverse, to heat.
ASHPs have advanced a lot with regards to technology, making it easy for you to manage your energy usage. ASHPs are extremely reliable, however if you have any issues or queries and require support, an engineer can remotely access the software on your heat pump to make changes and run diagnostics, however you may still require an engineer to visit if there is an issue with one of the components.
CG Plumbing & Heating Contractors Ltd can help with installation and maintenance of Air Source Heat Pumps, contact us for further information.
